It was a blessing to arrive when the sun had set, when the colors had faded and the silhouettes of palm trees blended, so that when we awoke on Day 6 we were blown away all over again.
After a yawn and a stretch our eyes popped open as we stepped onto our deck and looked around us. The Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort sat on a private island, a mini motu, and at the center a large mountain covered in lush evergreen grass and towering tropical rain trees, set in between slate rock formations and bushes filled with crimson hibiscus. Below, delicately swaying palm trees shaded a rim of ivory sand being kissed by crystal clear water that slowly builds in color from a pale powder blue to a magnetic turquoise as it travels to the reef.
